I would not be who I am today without these ten different things surrounding me in some way or another, these are the "forces" that have shaped me into who I am today. First off and most importantly, my parents contribute a lot to who I am as a person. My mom is always there showing me how to live a happy life. When I am down and upset about something she is there telling me not to worry and that everything will work out in the end. With her love and support my mom has made me a caring person who doesn't get bothered by the little things anymore. My dad on the other hand has taught me to work for what I want. Things won't just be handed to you, you need to earn it. "It's easy if you try." My dad always says to me. With his support and words of encouragement, I have become a hard working person. He has made me become some sort of a "perfectionist" who would rather try, fail, and try again to get it right than to just get it done. I would also not be who I am today if I did not have the family that I have. A close family that cares about each other. This leads me to my fourth thing that has made me who I am, my older brothers. They are certainly a force behind shaping who I am. They have made me stronger in many ways. Being the youngest they never took it easy on me. They made fun of me, picked on me, argued with me, and everything else annoying siblings do but I thank them for that because that has made me who I am! They have taught me to never back down and to not let people push you around. The next thing that has shaped who I am would be my best friend and her family. They are like a second family to me and has showed me that real friendships do last so you always have people there to depend on. They have been there every step of the way and I can honestly see them always being there in the future. Without a true friend that is always there, life is boring. Cindy, my best friend, has made my past full of memories that I can look back on and has made my future seem so much more interesting. Not only do you need a true friend, but you need other friends who are there for support. Without the great friends I have now I would not have the memories I do, and those memories that I have shape me as a person. I have something to look back on in my life and enjoy. The seventh thing that has shaped me to being who I am would be my ability to express myself through art. Everyone has that special something that they can get lost in and art is mine. Without art, I lose creativity and my ideas would just be ideas. I would not be able to follow through with things and relax. My love for art has definitely played a part in who I am. Music is something else that has made me who I am. It is my escape from the world and even though I am musically challenged, I enjoy listening to music and just focusing on lyrics or the rhythm. It is inspiring and has a part in my life. Books also play an important part in my life, and has shaped who I am. After finishing a book I like to just sit there and let the whole plot wash over me. Books are a way for me to think about something else for just a moment and let my imagination wander. Imagination is important to me, and with books, it helps let my imagination lose and get ideas. The last, but not least thing that has shaped me as a person would be always being told "you can do it." This has given me hope and is the reason I am who I am. Without those few little words, I would not have the motivation I do, I would not have the dreams that I do. Being told "you can do it" is an extremely important thing and I would not be me without it.
I understand how important your mother and father are to you. It is great to have a supportive family. It’s good that your mom has made you caring with her love and support, and I see you’re grateful for your dad’s encouragement to keep trying. Even your brothers, who you say picked on you and made fun of you, taught you something. You have a backbone and won’t let anyone push you around, which is a good thing to have! I also get how books are important to you, because I feel the same way. It’s an amazing thing to have a good book with a awesome plot, because you can take yourself into another world and think about something else with such books.

Much like everybody else, your family was your main force to shape you into you, and I can see why. Your family seems really supportive and caring. And I love the fact that you threw your imagination via books in there because being able to explore your imagination through any medium is a wonderful process that really allows you to get to know yourself. I also thinks it's great that you have your own life motto of sorts, "you can do it." And is that "try, fail, and try again" an adaptation of Mr. Shive's "Try. Fail. Adjust?" I really enjoyed your essay, I think it was written really well!

Lina,
Your family seems to be the force that has shaped you the most just like everybody else. My dad also teaches me to work for something that you want and that it won't be handed to you. I also like how you mentioned books as a force. I can understand how they can shape you. Many books are very relatable and can teach you many life lessons and they help you explore your imagination which I can relate to.
